A few years ago, Sarah and I started to teach Python to first years on the Creative Computing degree courses. It went well, and we ended up with a pretty heavy set of notes.
We spoke to a publisher, who put us in contact with the brilliant Russel Winder.
Between us we turned it all into a book for new programmers. Thomson Learning (now renamed Cengage Learning) wanted to appeal to an American audience, so the title ended up being Python for Rookies. Which is a shame.
Still, we're all pleased with the book.
You can get it from Amazon and real-world bookshops, if you can find one.
